A scientific trip for students of Animal Production to dairy cattle farms in Dhulail

​Students of the dairy cattle management course in the Department of Animal Production with the organization of Prof. Mufeed Alnimer and lab supervisor Ahmad Shamoun had visited yesterday two dairy cattle farms in Dhulail area in Zarqa.

The first visit was to "Teeba" Dairy farms; one of "Almarai" companies; which have about 2800 dairy cows. The farm manager; DVM Mohammad Al-Ashram; welcomed the attendees and gave a detailed explanation to the students about the farm and its sections, the lifecycle of the dairy cow on the farm and how to manage the dairy cattle herd as well.

Also, Mr. Momen; the nutritionist of the herd; clarifying how to formulate feed mixtures and provide them to each section of the dairy herd. In addition, he gave students a clear picture of the milking parlour in the farm and the importance of its management in dairy farms.

The second visit was to "Maurice Naber" dairy farm which have around 300 dairy cows. The farm manager; Mr. Adnan Saleh; gave a detailed explanation of the herd and its sections, how it is managed and the reality of the dairy farmers in the Dhulail area. The visit included also an interesting discussion with the students about the reality of dairy cattle farms and the opportunities and qualifications of students required to work in this vital sector.
