The program was established in 1978 under the title of Soil and
Irrigation Master, and then the program name was changed to land, water and
environment in 2003. Admission to the program is limited to Bachelor's degree
graduates in land, water and environment or similar disciplines of agriculture
and engineering.
This program focuses on the preparation of students to work as
researchers and prepare them to work in the field of scientific research and
completion of the study to obtain a doctorate. The topics of student research
in this program include topics related to soil management and land use
planning, irrigation scheduling, irrigation water management, GIS , remote
sensing and environmental systems modelling.
The courses are taught by the academics from the department and
school of agriculture where the study expands on what the students studied in
the bachelor's degree and help them to carry out scientific research and
conduct field and laboratory experiments. The graduates of the program may work
in the research centres of different ministries, educational institutions and
universities, and the private sector.
Ø
Vision statements of the
program:
Development of advanced
scientific research and teaching in the fields of land, water and the
environment, and helping graduates to assume their pioneering role.
Ø
Mission statements of the
program:
Upgrading and
qualifying the graduates to participate in scientific research that aimed at
solving water and environmental problems in Jordan.
Ø
Program Aims:
1- Develop the
scientific graduates' abilities to identify problems in any sector of land,
water or the environment.
2- Identify the
appropriate targets and methods for studying water and environmental problems.
3- Enable the student
to adopt the correct practical methods in gathering information, and analyzing
it to achieve the objectives of the study and devising appropriate
recommendations.
4- Activate and
increase scientific research at the department, college and university levels.
5- Provide scientific solutions
to land, water and environment problems as a acommunity service.
