Within the framework of cooperation
with international bodies, a delegation from the office of the Japanese
International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Jordan visited the School of
Agriculture on Sunday morning, September 26, 2021, where they were welcomed by
the Dean of the School, Prof. Safwan
Al-Shiyab, Vice Dean, Prof.Muhannad Al-Akash and JICA Programs
Coordinator at the School of Agriculture, Prof. Luma Al-Banna.
The discussion revolved around the
continuation of cooperation and the possibility of extending the agreement signed
between the University of Jordan represented by the School of Agriculture/
University of Jordan, the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and
the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, which is
concerned with holding training courses in the development and capacity
building of technicians from the Yemeni Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation
in the field of irrigation for another Japanese fiscal year (until the end of
March 2023) due to the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, which led to the
postponement of training courses that were programmed in the year 2020/2021.
The discussion also took place on
the possibility of cooperation between the School of Agriculture and JICA;
Undergraduate and graduate students internship, Scientific exchange visits among Jordanian and
Japanese faculty members with the aim of cooperation in the fields of research
and teaching.
The visit was concluded with a tour of the
School of Agriculture facilities, during which the delegation was briefed on
modern technologies in the school museum and laboratories in the various
departments, and take a group picture.
